Setup with MS SQL Server 2008

Sep 10, 2010 at 3:47 PM

I wanted to have all the data in one database (including the membership database). And I wanted it to have it up and running in a SQL Server 2008 database (not express). But when you run the initial install script, the membership database does not work.

You need to run aspnet_regsql.exe (you should find it in C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727) first on a clean database and afterwards run the TradingCenter sql script. Next change all the connectionstrings (in config files AND the DefaultValues.cs in the Core project as well).

After that it all worked,

All you need for this is to run the AspNet Membership script on the TradingCenter DB, Change the MemberShipSettings to use the same DataBase, Delete the old database. The DefaultValues are not important as they are only ever used during Automated Install (First Run)

using the ASP.NET SQL Reg Tool is a common task and you will find details about this online aspnet_regsql.exe.

We will be integrating this (single or twin DB) as an option in the new Setup Wizard.

The reason by default there is 2 DB's is because in a normal environment the MembershipDB is on another server and used by many Applications.
